ScentreGroup Portal was about giving them a platform on which to shine and bringing their content and energy to life (vibrancy). A digital storefront that provides the opportunity to present the essence of their in-store experience. Customers will see their latest campaign images, explore their brand and see in-store offers or experiences. Essentially, we’re enabling the retailer to entice the customer into their store. It gives them the power to bring their brand to life as they see fit. Purpose was to create a connected customer experience tailored to their brand, for their customers. The portal enables them to create their store page. See GLUE STORE page here We started mid-Feb as a small alliance of 5 people. We had 7 weeks to build a Minimum Loveable Product (MLP) product, design and do ongoing user testings and about 8 days to QA, push in prod and QA again. We did a lot of retailer usability testings: Quantitative Usability Testing (Benchmarking). The purpose was to understand how retailers (real users) interact with the Scentre Group Partner Portal (via the prototype) and to make changes based on what we learn. Our key main focus was to ensure it was easy to navigate, easy to perform core and simple tasks, easy to ask for help, and it adds value and purpose for them. In those sessions, we asked them to tell us: if you were to upload an offer, how would you do that through the portal? And observe them as they go through the task. One year later, as the colossal rebuilding task continues, the country remains battered. Daily life has changed in unexpected ways. To mark the one year after the tsunami, we designed a panoramic tool of key areas in Japan containing videos, photographs and further information about the devastated regions. The objective of the interactive was to tell a story on the rebuilding and recovery of the different places affected by the tsunami rather than displaying infographical data or re-using our Before/After slider. It is a sensitive and sombre event, we designed an interactive piece that respectfully tells their stories. By January 2011, extensive flooding had impacted 75 per cent of the state and a disaster zone was declared. In total, 33 people lost their lives, with three bodies never recovered and declared deceased by the State Coroner in June 2012. Evacuations numbers totaled 5 900 people from 3 600 homes. An estimated 28 000 homes were in need of rebuilding; scores more would require extensive repairs. The final report of a judicial inquiry into the event was published in March 2012. We did a series of interactives during this massive breaking news story to show live data and how each city was impacted. At first, the brief suggested to use an online survey tool and once submitted, users will be redirected to review others’ hopes and dreams via a visual display. Engagement is crucial for the success of any website,interactives or stories. You need to make sure that visitors are immediately drawn into your site, through great content, and a compelling interactive tool. Therefore I didn’t think a survey will immediately engage with our users, and I thought that it will be best to display everyone’s wishes first, either on a text view or map view and create some buzz around it. By viewing all the wishes, users will be more likely to add theirs and share them. The 'Share Your 2012' interactive captures everyone’s ambitions and hopes or subject that matters to them. Users can share them with friends, view entries on a map, ‘like’ it or tweet it. It’s very simple to use. Once you add your post, users will be notified when their post is approved. People from all around the world posted some funny dreams, heartbreaking hopes, marriage proposals, stories that matter to them... The bubble size reflected the numbers. As part of this ‘end of the year’ coverage, news.com.au created a “Care Factor” series that tackled 5 big issues or popular stories. I helped the editorial team visualising each of the stories using pie charts, timeline, maps. In part five of our Care Factor series, we examined the aftermath of the Arab Spring - a series of revolutions streamed, blogged, tweeted, Youtubed and Facebooked, offering the world an immediate and intimate view of the downfall of a combined 128 years of power in the Middle East. In the map you can see what story came out of each of the six major uprisings to grab the attention of international observers more than any other. Viewers could find out how those stories ended, and who the most prominent faces of each revolution were. Then our team got together and mapped out the parking experience through the lens of the customer, the business and the technology available to us. Homepage + verticals and later on the mobile site that I led also.
 The main concept behind the redesign was to display our news and featured content in a more engaging and visual way by enhancing a story’s main feature. We built the homepage for editors to be able to customise the top stories section with minimal producer, designer and dev input as a big story can break at any time! We also wanted to display content and services in a clean and open layout, reducing the amount of text on the page so that it is easier for the audience to scan and find the content and services that are most relevant for them while showing all the great content from the network of NDM. I led the project along with my colleagues Simon Wright (creative director), Portia Hilton (producer) and David Lewis (Tech Lead) and the Tech/Design/Editorial team. My role was to assist and work closely with my creative director, Simon Wright in designing UX prototypes, building all the templates, UI elements and features for the homepage as well as creating bespoke stories such as the Queensland floods, Cyclone Yasi, Japan tsunami, Federal Budget….

Serving them up with endless mono and sepia period pictures - the traditional visual fare of WW1 coverage - would not bring the words to life convincingly. The goal was to apply Westfield’s new design system, improve the transactional experience, rebrand both digital and physical products, and support ongoing campaigns with refreshed creative. One of the biggest challenges was working within the constraints of a legacy .NET platform, which limited what we could change in terms of user flows during Phase 1. This meant the focus had to be on visual improvements and UI enhancements that could immediately impact usability and engagement, while laying the foundation for deeper UX changes in future phases. As Lead Designer, I led the redesign of both consumer and corporate sites, ensuring consistency with the broader Westfield brand. I delivered campaign hero imagery and EDMs that aligned with seasonal messaging, improved the transactional UI to support different shopping behaviours, and worked closely with cross-functional teams to embed the new design system throughout. The goal was to reflect new brand values : Vibrant, Human, Curated, and Easy, through a complete redesign of the digital ecosystem. Working closely with Fjord and cross-functional teams, we focused on creating a consistent, elegant, and user-friendly experience. A key part of this transformation was a refreshed visual identity. While the iconic Westfield logo remained, we introduced a new graphic ‘W’—a dynamic symbol of connection between online and offline. This was supported by a broader colour palette, bespoke patterns, modern typography, and a more conversational tone of voice. All elements were embedded into a unified Design System to ensure brand consistency at scale. Our starting point was a "Digital Reset"—a foundational website that laid the groundwork for future digital growth. This first phase focused on restructuring site architecture, streamlining core user flows, applying the new visual language, and introducing features designed to respond to a user’s time and location. In Phase 2 of Westfield’s digital transformation, the focus shifted to creating a truly connected experience—one that seamlessly linked digital and physical channels while enhancing value for both customers and retailers. We aimed to boost engagement, empower retail partners with smarter tools, and unify all platforms under a single, scalable Design System. Ongoing user research played a critical role, helping us identify pain points, test assumptions on-site, and turn insights into actionable design opportunities through affinity mapping and rapid iteration. This user-first, iterative approach allowed us to design features that genuinely resonated with customers while revealing new opportunities across the journey. Internally, we built a robust Design System Library and detailed brand guidelines to ensure consistency and efficiency. These also supported the launch of a Digital Asset Management platform, giving every Scentre Group employee easy access to brand resources. To support scale and ownership, we shifted to a cross-functional squad model, embedding designers into product teams while collectively managing the design system. Within this structure, I led the redesign of three key experience areas: the Gift Card journey—streamlining purchase, gifting, and redemption; the Retailer experience—developing tools to better support business partners; and the Parking experience—simplifying navigation, payments, and real-time updates. In my role, I worked at the intersection of product, design, content, and engineering, partnering closely with Fjord to bring Westfield’s digital vision to life. I was responsible for shaping the Design System Library, defining the visual identity, and creating style guides that would ensure consistency across platforms. I led the end-to-end design of key product experiences, crafting user flows and interfaces that aligned with the brand’s new direction while maintaining a strong focus on usability. This work helped unify Westfield’s digital and physical presence, resulting in a cohesive, future-ready design system.
