Switched On magazine
Role: Lead Designer
Switched On was a weekly magazine insert dedicated to small-screen entertainment, featuring interviews with TV personalities, highlights of what’s on air, and the latest news and reviews across gaming and technology. Positioned as a go-to guide for viewers and digital enthusiasts, the brand combined fast-moving content with an energetic and contemporary visual style.
As Lead Designer, I was responsible for translating Switched On into a digital-first iPad magazine, designing UX templates and layouts specifically tailored to the medium. The objective was to move beyond a static reading experience and create something more interactive and immersive, in line with the brand’s dynamic and entertainment-driven tone.
I developed custom layouts powered by HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, incorporating motion and animation, built using Adobe Edge, to enhance storytelling across iPad, web, and mobile platforms. These interactive elements helped bring content to life, from featured interviews to gaming and tech reviews, creating a more engaging user experience.
Working closely with editorial and print teams, I sourced imagery and graphic assets to ensure a cohesive visual language across all content. This collaboration allowed for a seamless integration of design and storytelling, resulting in a product that felt both editorially rich and digitally engaging.
