Escape Ipad magazine
Role: Lead Designer
Escape chronicles global travel hotspots, offering curated guides designed to help readers make the most of their time away, whether on a quick getaway or an extended journey. Recognised as a powerful resource for travellers, the brand combines inspiration with practical utility, delivering content that is both aspirational and highly functional.
As Lead Designer, I was responsible for translating the Escape experience into a digital-first iPad magazine, designing UX templates and layouts specifically tailored to the medium. The goal was to move beyond static editorial and create a more interactive, immersive journey that reflected the brand’s sense of discovery and adventure.
I developed dynamic layouts enhanced with custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, optimised across iPad, web, and mobile platforms. These interactive components allowed for richer storytelling, bringing destinations to life through engaging features such as curated “Best Deals” modules and immersive photo galleries showcasing ideal weather and travel moments.
Collaboration was central to the process. I worked closely with editorial and print teams to source and shape content, ensuring a seamless integration between storytelling and design.
To improve both efficiency and consistency across the product, I initiated the creation of a shared design library, a centralised system of reusable templates and interactive components. Developed collaboratively with the wider team, this library streamlined production workflows while maintaining a cohesive visual and user experience across all issues.
