Taste Ipad magazine
Role: Lead Designer
Taste.com.au is one of Australia’s most trusted food platforms, helping home cooks with everything from quick weeknight dinners and family meal planning to dietary-specific recipes and daily cooking inspiration. Built around accessibility and enjoyment, the brand empowers users to cook with confidence while connecting them to a broader community of food lovers.
As Lead Designer, I was responsible for translating the Taste experience into a digital-first magazine, designing a format specifically tailored for iPad and multi-device consumption. The focus was on creating an intuitive and engaging experience that made recipes not only easy to follow, but enjoyable to explore.
I developed a flexible system of UX templates and layouts to ensure consistency across content while allowing for rich storytelling. A key part of the role involved reimagining how recipes could be experienced digitally—designing interactive formats that guided users step-by-step, and enhancing editorial features such as wine pairings and curated food content.
To support this, I created custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript-driven layouts, incorporating motion and animation using Adobe Edge. These elements were optimised across iPad, web, and mobile platforms, bringing a sense of tactility and responsiveness to the experience.
Working closely with editorial and print teams, I sourced imagery and visual assets to maintain a cohesive and appetising aesthetic throughout. This collaboration ensured that every piece of content—from individual recipes to broader editorial features—felt aligned with the Taste brand and elevated the overall user experience.
